George C. Beecher Dies Hour After Removal From Auto Plant

Stricken with heart trouble while at work at the Pullman Motor Car company plant yesterday, George C. Beecher, a Civil war veteran, died at 9:30 o'clock, an hour after his removal to this home. He was 70 years old.
Mr. Beecher had not complained of feeling sick yesterday and ate a hearty breakfast before going to work. About 8:30 o'clock he suffered a sudden heart attack, and was removed to his home in an automobile. Dr. Charles C. Neff was called immediately but was unable to revive him.
Mr. Beecher served throughout the Civil war as a volunteer in a company of Pennsylvania cavalry. He was a member of General John Sedgwick post, No. 37, Grand Army of the Republic, and of Ivy castle, No. 134, Ancient Order Knights of the Mystic Chain. He was also a member of the Heidleberg Reformed church. Surviving him are his wife and five children, Dr. F. E. Beecher and Dr. G. M. Beecher, both of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. T. A. Geesey, South Queen street; Mrs. D. A. Schriver, South Pine street, and Miss Grace Beecher, living at home.
The funeral will be held next Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence, 317 East College avenue, the Rev. W. S. Kirschner, pastor of the Heidleberg Reformed church, officiating. Burial will be made in Prospect Hill cemetery.


George married Martha Savilla Eicholtz, daughter of Samuel Eaholtz and Elizabeth Magdalena Rex, on 25 Jun 1868 in , Adams, PA.1 (Martha Savilla Eicholtz was born on 9 Jan 1849 in Bendersville, Adams, PA 3 30 31 32 33, christened on 17 Jun 1849 in Bendersville, Adams, PA,33 died on 11 May 1939 in Evanston, Cook, IL 30 32 34 and was buried on 15 May 1939 in York: Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, PA 30 32 35.)
