8. Obituary: Altoona Tribune: obituary of Ann Mary Gilbert Beecher on 4 Aug 1887 in Altoona, Blair, PA. 12 An Aged Lady Dead.
Died at Beechersville, Adams county, Pa., July 30, 1887, Mrs. Ann Mary Gilbert Beecher, aged 90 years, 3 months and 4 days. She was the mother of nine children. Elizabeth, Ann Margaretta, Bernhard, David and George proceeded her to the home above more than forty years ago.
The surviving children now mourning the loss of a dear and kind mother are Samuel Beecher, of this city, now too ill to attend the funeral; Mrs. John Hoover, Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Altoona; Mrs. Henry Weigle, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Catharine Saltzgiver, of Adams county, Pa. Her husband, David Beecher, died April 13, 18S0, aged 80 years, 7 months and 5 days.
After years of suffering and longing for her departure she has at last entered into that rest that remaineth for the people of God.

Gobrecht Altoona, Pa., a descendant of Jacob Gilbert and son-in-law David Beecher, visited his Gilbert, Fox, and Beecher ancestors' graves in Arendtsville, and documented the cemetery in Volume 10 of the Pennsylvania-German magazine entitled "Paper VI, Tombstone Inscriptions of Persons Born Prior to 1800 and Past 16 years at Death at Arendtsville, Adams County, Pa."

Gobrecht stated: "This graveyard was started by the pioneer settlers in the year 1780. There are over 1200 graves, over which there are no stones or markers, many of these having been broken off or pulled out by vandal hands to be piled up, with few exceptions in the corner of the old graveyard. The names of many of the dead are still preserved in the living descendants. We are informed that no parish record antedating 1870 is extant. ."
