Benjamin Kocher
• Book: Anniversary History of Lehigh County, Vol. II, 1914. 2 Benjamin Kocher, son of Simon, was born in Lowhill Township, July 3, 1810. He also secured the homestead and carried on farming until 1856, when he sold the premises which had been held in the family for upwards of one hundred years. He then lived at Allentown four years, but in 1860, not liking town life, he removed to Guth's Station, where he conducted a small farm for thirty years. He then lived in retirement with his sons, Dr. John F. Kocher, where he died, Oct. 1, 1891. he was married to Anna, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Kuhns) Weida, and they had eight children: John F; David J., of Allentown; Mary A., wife of James Schmoyer; and five who died young. They were members of the Jordan Reformed Church, which he had served as deacon, elder, and trustee. Benjamin married Anna Weida. |
