Obituary: Lebanon Daily News on 25 Oct 1957 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 4 Death removed one of Lebanon's outstanding citizens from the earthly scene this morning when a heart attack proved fatal for Charles Oscar Bressler, 202 Hathaway Park. The 82-year-old local industrialist, banker and civic worker died at 7:30 o'clock in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday night after he was stricken ill at his home. Prior to the attack Bressler had enjoyed apparent good health. Tuesday he attended a banking meeting in Philadelphia. He had suffered a heart condition in 1946 and was hospitalized for several weeks. He also suffered a siege of illness in Florida in 1950, but each time he recovered his health and continued his active life. It was to a large extent dedicated to promoting the well being and welfare of his fellow citizens. A man of many interests throughout his life, Bressler commenced his career here as an attorney. Following his graduation from Princeton University, he served a legal apprenticeship in the office of the late Grant Weidman. Following his admission to the Lebanon County bar on Feb. 26, 1900, he practiced law for a short time and then embarked on an industrial career. At the time of his death he was the second oldest living member of the bar association. For more than a half century, Bressler was affiliated with what is now known as the Bressler Metal Works plant, Fifteenth and Chestnut Sts. The firm grew through the years to its present position as a major industry from a tinsmith and stove shop established on S. Eighth St. by Bressler's father. Bressler stepped down as head of the firm in 1950, when his son, Edwin H. Bressler, became sole owner. He is survived by his son, Edwin H. Bressler, this city, and a daughter, Mary; wife of Shepherd Wolman, Kansas City, Mo. Also one sister, Adele, widow of C.O. Snavely, this city. His wife, the former Charlotte Meigs Weimer, died on July 15. He was the son of the late John (Hand) and Mary (Heilman) Bressler.
