1. Newspaper: Arkansas City Daily Traveler: Died in Indiana, 14 May 1917, Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. 3 J. F. Beecher today received a telegram from Brems, Ind., announcing the death of his aunt, Mrs. Geo. Ridenour, which occurred there this morning at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Ridenour was a former resident of this city. The body will be brought here for burial. The services will be held at Oldroyd's chapel at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday, with burial in Mercer cemetery beside that of the husband. Mrs. Ridenour resided with her son, J. F. Ridenour.

2. Obituary: Arkansas City Daily News: obituary of Sarah Ridenour on 18 May 1917 in Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. 1 Sarah Stanley [sic] Ridenour was born in Schaefferstown, Pa , December 25, 1831. While still a child, she moved with her parents to Columbus, Ohio. She was married to George Ridenour in 1854. To this union four boys were born. While the boys were still small the family moved to Indiana, and later to Kansas. Her husband preceded her to the heavenly world twenty years ago. Since then she has made her home with her children. She is survived by her four sons and one brother. Funeral services were held at the Oldroyd chapel. The Rev. W. II Moore, pastor of the Methodist church, preached the sermon. Interment was made in Mercer cemetery [note: aka Hope cemetery]. The following relatives were present at the funeral: Mr. John Ridenour and wife of Hamlet, Ind , Mr Louis Ridenour, of Hammon, Ind. Also Mr. Henry Ridenour and family, G. A. Peter Beecher and family, G. A Beecher, and Frank and Emma Beecher of this city were also present. The death of Mrs. Ridenour marks the passing of one of our former good citizens. Recently she returned to the east after a residence of many years in this vicinity. Those who know her are ready to attest her fine moral character. She was a life-long member of the Methodist church, devoutly religious, and every way an exemplary Christian.


Sarah married George Ridenour Jr., son of George Ridenour Sr. and Mary Starrett, on 18 May 1854 in , Franklin, Ohio, United States. (George Ridenour Jr. was born on 26 Apr 1829 in Gahanna, Franklin, OH,4 died on 2 Nov 1898 in Bolton Twp., Cowley, KS 4 5 and was buried in Arkansas City: Hope Cemetery, Cowley, KS 4.)
