Obituary: Baltimore Sun: obituary of Howard Swain on 7 Mar 1896 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD. 10 Mr. Howard Swain, for many years a member of the lumber firm of Swain & Banks, which was formerly located at the corner of President and Aliceanna streets, died yesterday from pneumonia at his home, 542 North Carrollton avenue, in the eighty-fourth year or his age. He was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania. When a young man he removed to Ellicott City, and for many years was in the lumber business there. A branch office was opened in Baltimore about fifty years ago, and ultimately the entire business was removed to Baltimore. Mr. Swain before his retirement was an active member of the Lumber Exchange. A widow, three sons and a daughter survive him.
