As a sample of what his "war garden" is doing, William N. Beecher, 2004 East Thirty-first street north, a deputy in the office of Register of Wills Jackson, took to the office yesterday a fine tomato weighing half a pound and of rich color and solid throughout. Mr. Beecher said he had many more like it in his garden. Besides tomatoes, he has beans, beets, lettuce and other vegetables growing. He is no novice at the work, having in his earlier years cultivated a larger area.

Funeral services for William N. Beecher, the oldest clerk in the Orphan's Court, who died yesterday, will be held Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. W. Robertson, 2004 East Thirty-first street. Burial will be in Loudan Park Cemetery.

Mr. Beecher, who was 79 years old, had been administrative clerk in the office of the Register of Wills of the Orphan's Court since 1881.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Myra Swain Beecher, he is survived by one son, William Gordon Beecher; a daughter, Mrs. Robertson, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for William N. Beecher, the eldest clerk in Orphan's Court, who died Friday, were held yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. W. Robertson, 2004 East Thirty-first street. Burial was in Loudon Park Cemetery.

Besides Mrs. Robertson, Mr. Beecher is survived by his widow, Mrs. Almyra Beecher; a son, William Gordon Beecher, and six grandchildren.
