EDWARD SHORB, farmer, McSherrystown, is a worthy representative of the Shorb family of pioneers, and was born November 1, 1824, on the old homestead in Union Township, Adams Co., Penn., where his brother, Squire Joseph L. Shorb, still resides. His parents were John and Mary (Beecher) Shorb. Our subject was educated in the county, has been a farmer nearly all his life, and for the last fourteen years has been living in McSherrystown, on the plot where his grandmother, Mary (Obold) Shorb, resided for many years. Edward Shorb was married here, December 27, 1859, to Miss Sarah C., daughter of Samuel and Mary (Smith) Sneeringer. Mr. and Mrs. Shorb are members of the Conowago Chapel. He has never been an office seeker, and has been identified with the Democratic party all his life. He owns several farms, which comprise from 250 to 300 acres of good limestone land. As a farmer he has been successful, and has decided to pass the evening of his life in the village of McSherrystown, where he enjoys the esteem and good-will of his fellow townsmen.

Newspaper: New Oxford Item: obituary of Edward Shorb, 3 Jan 1902, New Oxford, Adams, PA. 6 Edward Shorb, one of McSherrytown's most estimable citizens, died Sunday morning, Dec. 29, at 7:30 o'clock. Edward Shorb was born inear Littlestown. He was a son of John Shorb, who married Miss Mary Beecher, of Littlestown. About 40 years ago Mr. Shorb married Miss Sallie Sneeringer, daughter of Samuel Sneeringer of near Conewago Chapel, but the union remained childless. His death was the result of injuries received from a fall at his home several months ago.
Rt. Rev. Bishop Shanahan, of Harrisburg, gave the last absolution and preached the sermon. Rev. Father Hemler was celebrant, Rev. Father Crotty deacon, and Rev. Father Foin sub deacon. Rev. Father Steffy, of Lancaster, was master of ceremonies.
Mr. Shorb moved many years ago from his beautiful home near Littlestown to McSherrystown, buying the property corner Main and Church streets form George Deltone, where he and his estimable wife have since resided. The funeral took place on Tuesday at 10 a. m. Solumn Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Church. Interment at Conewago Chapel.
