York, Pa., July 17. -- Elva Thomas, the 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Thomas, and Frank Beecher, aged 19 years, eloped and were married in Baltimore. The first intimation the parents had was an announcement in a Baltimore newspaper.
The boy and girl both work in factories and they left for work the other day as usual. They hurried to Baltimore. There the girl changed her everday dress for a white one, which she had surreptitiously made and emerged from the depot waiting room in resplendent bride's attire.
They were married and came back to York. When Mr. Thomas noticed the announcement in the paper he said to his daughter: "Elva, was that you?" "Uh-huh," said the girl demurely, and the parental blessings were given.

Franklin M. Beecher, 59, well-known reporter of legal business at the county court house, died suddenly yesterday of a heart attack.
He collapsed at 2:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Milner hotel, where he resided, and died about 20 minutes later the York hospital.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David H. G. Beecher, Mr. Beecher supplied news of property transfers and other court house transactions to York banks. He was a member of Trinity EUB church, the Order of Free and Accepted Masons and held membership in a number of other social and beneficial associations.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elva Beecher, and a son, Richard H. Beecher, and a son, Richard H. Beecher, both of Franklinville, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. H. F. Frank, Mrs. George W. Nickol and Mrs. John Paules, all of York, and a brother, Calvin M. Beecher, of Erie.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Koller Funeral home, 2000 West Market street, with is pastor, Rev. J. H. Fleckenstine, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Rose cemetery.

14. Obituary: Funeral of Franklin M. Beecher on 26 Nov 1948 in York, York, PA. 9 The funeral of Franklin M. Beecher, who died tuesday in the Milner hotel, where he resided, was held at 2 p. m. today with services at the Koller funeral home, 2000 West market street. The rev. j. H. Fleckenstine officiated. Masonic rites were conducted by the York Lodge. The pallbearers were C. B. Reinhart, Paul Thomas, Charles Heckert, Hally Plitt, P. A. Nolde and Marshal Minich. Interment was in Mt. Rose cemetery.


Franklin married Elva M. Thomas, daughter of Forrest D. Thomas and Amelia Louise Kidd, on 14 Jul 1908 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD. (Elva M.
