Beecher conducted at the Beecher home in Jackson township on Saturday afternoon attracted a large crowd. Mr. Beecher sold some of his household effects. The total receipts were $200. Levi Shaffer, near LaBott, was the auctioneer, and Charles E. hoke and Adam D. Swartz were the clerks. Mr. Beecher will discontinue housekeeping and live with his children. He sold his home recently to Ervin Bortner, of Spring Grove.

Edward F. Beecher Claimed by Death at Porters Sideling

Porters Sideling, Nov. 29 -- Edward F. Beecher, a retired papermill worker and farmer, who recently discontinued housekeeping in Jackson township, near Spring Grove, died Saturday afternoon at 4:10 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Kraft, Heidelberg township, near here. He was aged 72 years 2 months and 13 days. He was confined to bed by complications for one week. He was a semi-invalid for a number of years, having been stricken with paralysis about five years ago.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ira Kraft, near Porters Sideling; Mrs. Sherman Ruth, Mrs. John Gabel and Mrs. Clarence Berkheimer, York; Mrs. George Hoffman, Hanover; Edward Beecher, Newport, Pa.; and Mrs. Ralph Myers, Spring Grove; twelve grandchildren and the following brother and sister: John Beecher, Newville, Pa., and Mrs. Edward Pechart, Newville, Pa.

The body was taken to the funeral home of Carl H. Shaffer, Spring Grove, to be prepared for burial. Funeral services will be held at the Shaffer Funeral home, West Cemetery street, Tuesday afternoon, December 1, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Ralph C. Robinson, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiating. Mr. Beecher was a member of the Order of Odd Fellows, formerly of Spring Grove, now of York, and of Hauer Council, Junior Order United American Mechanics, Spring Grove.

13. Newspaper: Gazette and Daily: funeral of Edward F. Beecher, 2 Dec 1936, York, York, PA. 27 The funeral services for Edward F. Beecher, who died Saturday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Kraft, near Porters Sideling, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock. All services were held at the Shaffer funeral home, this place. Rev. Ralph C. Robinson, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church officiated. The pallbearers were six sons-in-law, Ira Kraft, Sherman Ruth, John Gable, Clarence Berkheimer, George Hoffman and Ralph Myers. Interment was made in the Spring Grove cemetery.

Snoke, 3 May 1940, Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. 28 A bequest of $50 is made to the Hays Grove United Brethren Church by the will of David E. Snoke, Penn township. Mrs. Emily Beecher was given $1000 outright and the use of a house in Centerville for life. A bequest of $100 was left Harry J. Beecher and the balance of the estate was bequeathed in equal shares to John S. Beecher, Edward F. Beecher, Mrs. Rebecca J. Pechart and heirs of Samuel J. Beecher.
