With them is son David, 17, laborer, and Mary E., 14, both born in Ohio. Daughter Catharine A., 8, was born in Indiana. David's real estate was worth $5,700 and his possessions $800. The post office was Huntington. Living next door is the France family, tied to the France Cemetery where David and Anna are buried.

3. Census in 1870 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon, PA. 5 David Bucher, farmer, 61, was living with wife Anna, 60; and Catherine, 17. Catherine was born in Indiana, and David and Anna in Pennsylvania. David's farm was worth $10,000 and his personal estate $600. The post office is Huntington.

David Bucher was born in Center county, Pennsylvania, November 25, 1809, and died in Huntington county, Indiana, January 2, 1899, aged eighty-nine years, one month and seven days. When but a youth he immigrated with his parents to Wayne County, Ohio. There he grew to manhood. In 1835, in his twenty-six year, he was married to Anna Freehafer. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls. The three oldest died in infancy. About the year 1847 he, with his family, embarked for Huntington County, Indiana, where he remained until his death. Three years ago last September his wife departed this life, since which time he lived among his children who are David H. Bucher Jr., Mrs. Nathan Raifsnyder and Mrs. W. M. Stults. He was the father of six children; grandfather of twelve, great-grandfather of four.
At the age of fourteen he became a member of the Lutheran Church of which he remained a member till the time of his death. In early life he worked at the shoemaker's trade, but after coming to this county, he followed farming for an occupation. He was a man of great industry and energy. As regards his religious life, he wielded a good influence for the cause of Christ in the community in which he lived. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nathan Raifsnyder, and was buried from the English Lutheran Church, in Jackson Township, January 4th. The funeral was preached by Rev. J. L. Goshart, of Roanoke.


David married Anna Freehafer, daughter of Christian Freehafer and Elisabeth Schaeffer, on 13 Aug 1835 in Wooster, Wayne, OH.1 (Anna Freehafer was born on 15 Dec 1816 in Heidelberg Twp., Berks, PA,4 5 6 died on 13 Sep 1895 in , Huntington, IN and was buried in France Cemetery, Mahon, Huntington, IN.)
