1. Obituary: Spry Funeral Home: obituary of Richard Wallace Riehm on 13 Jun 1916 in Huntsville, Madison, AL, USA. Lt. Col. Richard Wallace Riehm, age 96, of Huntsville, passed away on Saturday October 13, 2012.
Colonel Riehm came up through the enlisted ranks before attending O. C. S. and gained his commission, serving as an Ordinance officer and Logistician. He served around the world in both war and peace time, retiring in Huntsville, AL in 1966 with the reserve rank of Lt. Colonel. Col. Riehm's last posting was as Foreign Liaison Officer at Redstone Arsenal.
After retirement he continued to serve the Huntsville community in many roles, including as a writer for Huntsville Community Action Committee, and as a member of local organizations including the World Future Society (Past President), The Kiwanis Club, and the International Association of Educators for World Peace.
Richard and Mary were an inseparable team who actively supported every community where they were stationed. Their many contributions to the Huntsville community including acting as adult volunteers at Agora, many activities and projects of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, including the folk and gospel choirs. They were founding members of the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, volunteering time, skills, and money. Richard and Mary hosted reunions of the 199th Ordnance Depot Company in Huntsville.
Col. Riehm is preceded in death by his wife Mary Riehm.
Col. Riehm is survived by his children, Andrea Atwood and Mark Riehm; and a host of others including, Micki Webster, Sharon Turpin, and Brian, Jennifer, Chris, and Jessica Bouchie.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday October 18th at 11 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 17th from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home with a Rosary service at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Richard married Mary Elizabeth Beeker, daughter of Emmet Richard Beeker Sr. and Cornelia Ann Seibel, on 7 Mar 1951 in Terre Haute, Vigo, IN.
