3. Obituary: Clyde Voice-Republican: obituary of James William Crawford on 24 Nov 1921 in Clyde, Cloud, KS, USA. 1 Obituary. James William Crawford was born in Virginia Nov. 14, 1842, departing this life Nov. 21, 1921, at the age of 79 years and 7 days.
He removed from Virginia to Milford, Ill., in early manhood, and was there united in marriage to Miss Jennie Pruitt, in 1866. To this union were born four children, one of whom preceded him in death. Those surviving are James W. Crawford and Nettie Fetzer, of this city, and Jesse E., formerly of Concordia, now of Long Beach, California.
Mr. Crawford came from Illinois to Glen Elder, Kan., in 1871 and resided there until about a year ago, at which time he removed to Clyde, spending the last year of his life here. He suffered from a first and second stroke of paralysis, respectively two and one year ago, which made life quite a difficulty, with much suffering on his part.
He was converted at the age of thirty and united with the M. E. church, and lived a consecrated life. Even in his last days, when the afflictions were almost more than we could bear, he often would sing those old favorite hymns and repeat those scriptures that substantiated his faith in Christ.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, 3 children and 12 grand children, besides relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church by Rev. J. W. Ellis, and interment was made in the Mount Hope cemetery Tuesday.
