FORMER HUMPHREY MAN DIES AT 90
---
Death Comes Unexpectedly to Harry Pruitt In Omaha
---
Harry Pruitt, 90, early resident of the Humphrey neighborhood, died unexpectedly at his home in Omaha at 2 p. m. yesterday, according to his son, Wade Pruitt, of Humphrey, who was in Columbus late yesterday enroute with his family to Omaha in response to a message apprising him of his father's death. The message did not give any details as to the cause of death. Mr. Pruitt had apparently been in good health for one of his advanced age, his son said.
Born in Tippecanoe, Ind., Jan. 31, 1836, Mr. Pruitt served four years in the 20th Indiana volunteer infantry in the civil war. Fifty-two years ago he married Jane Phillips, of Des Moines, who survives him. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two, years ago.
Coming to Platte county from Illinois 44 years ago, they located on a farm 4 miles southeast of Humphrey where they resided until 18 years ago when they retired from active farm life and went to Omaha to make their home. Mr. Pruitt was a man of unusally jovial nature and was a general favorite among his many friends.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and four daughters -- Wade Pruitt, of Humphrey; Mrs. Arthur Palmateer, Creston; Mrs. Abe Palmateer, Tempe, Ariz.; Mrs. Harvey Scharrar, Los Angeles; Rev. Logan A. Pruitt, Honolulu; Miss Effie Pruitt, at home.
No word as to arrangements for the funeral have been received here.
