She was born in Pottsville, June 25, 1920, and lived on Harrison Street.

She was a 1938 graduate from Pottsville High School.

In 1938, June was crowned Miss Pottsville and was entered in the Miss Pennsylvania pageant.

She married Robert Portland Sr. and moved to Levittown in 1953, where she was crowned Miss Levittown.

There, they raised three children, Robert Jr., John and Geraldine.

June was an immaculate homemaker, caring mother, fantastic cook and a great adviser to her family.

She enjoyed sewing, camping, swimming and singing.

At one time, June was asked to sing with the Les Brown Orchestra.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, who died in 2004; her daughter, Geraldine, in 2004; and her son, Robert Portland Jr., in 1993.

Surviving are her son, John Portland, Philadelphia; four grandchildren, June Thomas, Vincent Thomas, Robert Portland III and Jennifer Portland, Levittown; a sister, Geraldine Stoudt, Pottsville.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at James O. Bradley Funeral Home, 260 Bellevue Ave., Penndel. Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
