She was born September 18, 1933 in Pottsville daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Beacher Messina.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and was employed by the Pottsville Area School District prior to retiring.

Jo Marie dedicated her life to her family, grandchildren, friends and her church. She was an avid supporter of the Pottsville athletic programs and will continue to cheer for the Tide from heaven.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Pottsville where she sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray on March 21, 1972. Surviving are 3 sons, David C. and his wife Joanne, Seaside Park, NJ: Ray J. and his wife, Patricia, Harrisburg: Kevin J. and his wife, Ali, Sturbridge, Massachusetts: a daughter, Michelle M. Boran and her husband, John, Pottsville. 7 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Emily, Kevin, Matthew, and Raeff DiCello, Molly and Meghan Boran. Nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. from the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 305 S. Centre St., Pottsville with Rev. Kristopher M. Perry officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to the Josephine M. DiCello Scholarship Fund, c/o Howard S. Fernsler Academic Center, 1501 Laurel Blvd., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
