2. Census in 1920 in Kenwood, Lewis and Clark, MT. 6 The 1920 census recorded Alfred B. DeKay, building contractor, 42, living with wife Zella B., 42; and son Norman B., lawyer U.S. survey, 18; and daughter Mabel E., 16. Alfred his parents, and Norman and Mabel were born in New York. Zella and her parents were born in Pennsylvania.

4. Obituary: The Independent Record: obituary of Zella B. DeKay on 25 Oct 1965 in Helena, Lewis and Clark, MT. 4 Zella B. DeKay, resident of Helena for more than 50 years, and widow of Alfred B. DeKay, building contractor, died early Sunday morning at Cooney Convalescent Home, following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 18, 1875 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of George A. and Elizabeth K. Beecher Bradley. In 1900 she was married to Mr. DeKay at Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple moved in 1910 to Helena, where DeKay became active in the contracting business as a builder of the Marlow Theatre, Placer Hotel and several apartment buildings and homes. One of his last assignments before his death Aug. 19, 1940 was as project supervisor on the Helena Junior High School building. Also preceding Mrs. DeKay in death were her son, Norman B. DeKay, Helena architect, who designed the Junior High School building and the Benton Towers Apartment among other buildings before his death here June 7, 1939; her sister, Lillian Fiero here in 1939 and a brother, Alex Bradley in 1947 in Nevada. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. William (Mabel) Fredricks and grandson, Conrad Fredricks, both of Helena; sister, Mrs. A. T. Kramer of Bene, Nev.; granddaughters, Mrs. Gordon C. (Laverne) Kostyk of Canoga Park, Calif., and Mrs. A. Wayne (Betty) Gordon, Jr., of Bethesda, Md.; five great-grandchildren, Gregg and Timothy Kostyk, Allison, Ellen and Steve Gordon. Before her final illness Mrs. DeKay was affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services arc planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Retz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Warren Harrisberger, George A, Porte, Carl O. Parsons, and William Allen, Jr.
