1. Census in 1850 in Berwick Twp., Adams, PA. 3 John Bucher, farmer, 27, was living with his mother Barbara, 53; brother Michael, 23; sister Anna, 20; and sister Barbara, 18. His farm was worth $6,000. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

2. She signed a will on 19 Sep 1879 in Heidelberg Twp., York, PA. 4 In the name of God, amen, I Barbara D. Bucher, a Spinster, of the Township of Heidelberg, County of York State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made, And first, I direct that my body be decently interred in the graveyard on John Bucher's farm, by the right side of my mother, according to the rights of the old Brethren Church.
Second, I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid by my executor hereafter named as soon as possible after my death, As to such estate as it hath pleased God to give me, I dispose of the same in the manner following, to wit:
Item, I give and bequeath to my Brother Samuel Bucher, the sum of One Thousand Dollars, lawful money of the United States,
Item, I give and bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth Huff, wife of Michael Huff, living in the State of Iowa, the sum of One Thousand Dollars, as aforesaid.
Item, I give and bequeath unto John Bucher, my brother, living near Hanover, the sum of One Thousand Dollars, as aforesaid.
Item, I give and bequeath unto Maria Forry, wife of Jacob Forry, of Heidelberg Township, York County, Pa. sum of One Thousand Dollars.
Item, I give and bequeath unto Michael Bucher, of Ohio, the sum of One Thousand Dollars.
Item, I give and bequeath unto Annie Heikes, my sister, wife of Andrew Heikes, of Fishing Creek Valley, Penna. the sum of One Thousand Dollars. Each of the above-named Brothers and Sisters are to have share and share alike and should any of my brothers and sisters die before this will is probated and goes into effect and before a final distribution shall be made, then such deceased brothers or sisters share is to be distributed among the legal heirs of such deceased brother or sister, and should there be a surplus after paying the above legacies, then such surplus shall be distributed among my brothers and sisters, share and share alike, subject to the within provisions in case of previous death of any of the legates,
I hereby constitute and appoint my brother John Bucher, my sole executor of this my last will and testament, with full power to dispose at public sale, of any property, real, personal or mixed, that may come into his hands, after having probated this my last will and testament,

Before me Oliver Stuck, Register for the Probate of Wills and for Granting Letters Testamentary and of Administration in and for the County of York, personally appeared John R. Stine, Geo. R. Prowell and C. M. Wolff, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Will, who upon being duly qualified according to law, do depose and say, that they were personally present and saw and heard Barbara D. Bucher, late of Penn Township, York County, Pennsylvania, deceased, the testatrix, sign, seal publish, pronounce and declare the within and foregoing instrument of writing as and for her last will and testament, and at the time of her so doing, she the testatrix, was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they witnessed the same at the request of the testatrix, and in the presence of each other at the same time.

Memorandum,
Barbara D. Bucher, the said decedent, died on the 4th day of January, A.D. 1881, at or about 7, O'clock, in the fore-noon, as per affidavit of death in book No. 2, page 152, filed January 10, A.D. 1881.
Letters Testamentary, on the foregoing will of Barbara D. Bucher, deceased, were granted to John Bucher, the Executor named in the said will, after being duly qualified according to law, on the 10th day of January, A.D. 1881.
