In a double ring ceremony performed at 8:00 p. m. Friday at the Christian church, Miss Joan Nave, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nave, became the bride of Ralph Kane, son of Mrs. Hattie Kane, Alexandria. Rev. Noel P. Irwin, brother-in- law of the groom, of the First Baptist church of South Bend, officiated in the ceremony before an altar decorated with palms and mixed bouquets. "Clair de Lune," by DeBussy, "Indian Love Call'" by Friml, and "Always" by Irving Berlin were played by Mrs. Clyde Gossett before the ceremony. Following the wedding march, "Liebestraum" by Liszt was played during the ceremony. The bride was attired in a soft grey suit with pink and white ac cessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. She carried a white Bible with white streamers and pink rosebuds. Miss Rachel Grindle, bridesmaid, wore a grey suit with green accessories and a corsage of yellow rosebuds. Harold Miller, Alexandria, friend of the groom, served as best man. Mother of the bride wore navy and old rose and a corsage of pink rosebuds and blue lilies of the valley. Mrs. Kane wore navy and grey and a corsage of American Beauty roses. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the bridal party, immediate families and a few close friends. A three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom, centered the serving table. Decorations were in pastel colors. Mrs. Kane, a graduate of Fairmount High School, had been employed in the office of Farnsworth Radio Corp. at Marion. Mr. Kane, a graduate of Alexandria High School, is now employed at the Aladdin Lamp Corp. at Alexandria.

She was born Feb. 10, 1928, Fairmount, the daughter of John Merrill and Gladys (Lewis) Nave, and lived in Fairmount and Alexandria all her life. Her husband of 51 years, Ralph Dennis Kane, preceded her in death.
A believer of Jesus Christ, she exemplified how God uses ordinary persons to touch others in extraordinary ways. She was an active member of Alexandria First Baptist Church, participating in Salt Society and the women's Bible study, most recently serving as Deaconess. She enjoyed meeting monthly with classmates, and she took pleasure in learning to play the organ along with gardening and cooking.
Her love for family includes survivors, a son, Dennis (Janae) Kane, Daleville; three daughters, Nancy (Tom) Beher, Summitville, Emily (Jeff) Friend, Mobile, Ala., and Becky (Tim) Herniak, Summitville; brothers, John (Joann) Nave, Fairmount and Wayne (Trudy) Nave, Markleville; fourteen grandchildren, David (Tisha) Beher, Gaston, Aaron Skroback, Muncie, Adam (Billie) Kane, Daleville, Kristen (Michael) Sherman, Knightstown, Mark (Liza) Kane, Chesterfield, Ryan Kane, Cincinnati, Ohio, Leah Kane, Daleville, Jenny (Brad) Beher, Marion, Michael (Tiffany) Beher, Summitville, Lee (Ashley) Friend, Mobile, Ala., and Brittani, Tim "T.J.," Kurtis and Bethani Herniak, Summitville; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in First Baptist Church, Alexandria with Pastor Dr. Michael Deutsch officiating. Burial will be in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services on Monday.
