She was born Dec. 3, 1929, in La Crosse, Wis., to Robert F. and Helen (Beher) Bartl, and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Nancy graduated from Anderson High School in 1948, then attended College of St. Catherine, DePauw University and received her master's degree from Ball State University.
She was a retired teacher from Anderson Community Schools.
She was a lifetime member of First Friend's Church of Anderson, Pi Beta Phi sorority and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She and her husband founded and operated Gene Maddy Drugs.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughters, Chris Maddy of Terre Haute, Susie (Paul) Corya of Greensburg, and Beth (Gordon) Smiley of Greensburg; grandchildren, Robert Ealy, Cara Whisler Rojo, David Corya, Matthew Corya, Olivia Smiley Brinkman and Sabrina Smiley; six great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Roy Davis. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gene Maddy; her parents; and uncle, Wilfred Beher.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
