Holly Springs, PA passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hanover Hospital. He was born in Binghamton, NY on Nov. 23, 1926 to the late Mahlen Sr. and Susan Van Gorden Coleman. Mahlen was predeceased by bis wife, Doris J. Walters Coleman, who died in Feb. of 1992; and his daughter, Nancy Coleman, who passed away in 1977. A WWII Army veteran, Mahlen served in the Philippines and at the Carlisle Barracks as an MP. He re-. tired from the Kimberly Clark Corporation in Mt. Holly Springs where he worked in the mechanical maintenance department. While living in Mt. Holly, Mahlen dedicated many hours to coaching Little and Teener League baseball. He was generous and helpful to those in need, a "can do" Mr. Fix-it guy. Full of life, he enjoyed playing baseball and golf, and was an avid bow hunter. Mahlen is survived by two sons, Mahlen Coleman III (Connie) of Gardners and Dale Coleman of Shippensburg; and three daughters, JoAnn Bova (Roger) of Miami, FL, Patricia Davis-Fisher (David) of Carlisle and Julie Beecher (Ernie) of Carlisle. Also surviving is his companion, Shelba J. Smith of McSherrystown; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May, 10 at 10 a.m. at Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA with the Rev. Mark Sweeny officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, May 9 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday a ; : -' r"''n.rz half hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Research, 3211 N. Front St., Ste. lOO.Harrisburg.PA.
