RICHFIELD -- Edward Carr Beeker, 83, of 44320 Ridenhour Road, Richfield, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Stanly Manor Nursing Center in Albemarle.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, officiated by Dr. Harry Byrd, with Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Fellowship Lodge #687.

Born February 28, 1926 in Stanly County, Edward was the son of the late Claude Carr Beeker Sr. and Georgie Thompson Beeker. He was a retired employee of Public Service Company of N.C.

Edward was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of Fellowship Lodge #687, York Rites, a Shriner and a member of Sudan Temple.

He was married to Nancy Whittington Beeker, of the home. Other survivors include one son, Edward C. Beeker and wife, Kirsten, of Spartanburg, S.C.; two daughters, Beth Sherron and husband, Mike, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Ann Long and husband, Bruce, of Charlotte; one brother, Claude Beeker, of Richfield. He also had nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home Inc. on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of Monica Dodson, 711 Hudson Avenue, Durham, following the graveside service.
