William S. Snyder's first marriage is recorded in the written notes of family genealogist Bruce Franklin Beacher who gathered info in the 1960's from family members of his mother, Bertha Snyder. William married Matilda Kehler and within two years she died. (FYI other Kehlers marry into this same Snyder family line.) 1

  Death Notes:

She died giving birth to her son, Lewis, in the second year of her marriage to William Schneider.

1. Census in 1850 in Upper Mahantongo Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 5 The 1850 census recorded Henry Kahler, farmer, 45, living with wife Sarah, 43; William John, 33; Matilda Kahler, 13; Jude Ruther, 18; and Henry Brocius, 11. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.


Matilda married William S. Snyder, son of Abraham Schneider Sr. and Susanna Schweitzer, about 1853.1 (William S. Snyder was born on 17 May 1834 in Leck Kill, Northumberland, PA 2 6 7 8 9 10 11 12, christened on 6 Jul 1834 in Rebuck: Himmel's Church, Northumberland, PA,6 8 10 died on 11 Jun 1909 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA 8 9 11 12 13 and was buried on 14 Jun 1909 in Allentown: Highland Park Cemetery, Lehigh, PA 4 8 9 11 12 13 14.)
