A native of Stanley County, she was the wife of the late John Woodrow Beeker, and the daughter of the late Crawford and Dorthea Morgan Poplin. She was a former employee of Koury Hosiery Mill and was of the Baptist faith. In her later years, she divided time residing with her daughters in Hickory and Myrtle Beach.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Beeker Downs of Hickory and Mrs. Margaret Lois Beeker Thompson of North Myrtle Beach; a son, Marvin Boyd Beeker of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Nell P. Martin of Raleigh, Mrs. Raymail P. Coleman of Greer, S.C., Mrs. Pallie P. Greene of Burlington and Mrs. Clydia Mae P. Jones of Elon; seven grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ettie married John Woodrow Beeker, son of Charles Lloyd Beeker Sr. and Mary Lula Giles.
