All were born in Pennsylvania. Levi's real estate is valued at $600 and personal estate $200. Sarah cannot read. On the same census page is boat builder Samuel Gray, 40; and coach maker Henry Krebs, 35. The post office is Port Carbon. The census was recorded 26 Jun 1860.

2. Census in 1870 in Port Carbon, Schuylkill, PA. ² The 1870 recorded Levey Hilbert, boat builder, 49, living with wife Sarah, 42; Susan, 20; George 17, and son Lewis, 4 months, marked as born in February in the census column. Levey has no real estate value and personal estate worth $300, but his wife Sarah has real estate valued at $600, suggesting they are living on land her family owned. Also in the home is Sarah's mother, Susan Kepley, 72. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Minersville. The census was recorded on 17 Aug 1870.

3. Census in 1880 in Port Carbon, Schuylkill, PA. ³ The 1880 census recorded Sarah Hilbert, widowed, 52, living with son George, 26; son Lewis, 10; daughter Emma, 8; and mother Susan Kepley, 75. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

4. Newspaper: The Daily News: "George HIlbert, of Howells, Neb., and sister, Mrs. Christ Gulong, of Pottsville, spent Saturday visiting a brother, Lewis HIlbert, of Third and Chestnut streets.", 22 Aug 1904, Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. ⁴
