2. Newspaper: Altoona Tribune: Women Discuss Suffrage Question, 19 Mar 1913, Altoona, Blair, PA. 7 Harrisburg, March 18. Women had their day on capitol hill this afternoon. Thousands of them came from the four borders of the state by special train, by automobile, by trolley car and by other means of travel and crowded into the chamber of the Pennsylvania senate and hear others of their sex argue for or against the right of women to vote. It was the greatest crowd of women that has ever invaded the state capitol.
<snip>There were many women of social prominence from different parts of the state in the crowd. On the side of the suffragists were Mrs. Rudolph Blankenburg, wife of the Mayor of Philadelphia, and Dr. Anna Howard Shaw, of Moylan, Pa., president of the National American Woman's Suffrage association. On the opposite side of the chamber (for the senators had carefully drawn a line of demarcartion between the two contingents) were, among others, Mrs. Horace Brock, of Lebanon, president of the Pennsylvania association opposed to woman's suffrage; Mrs. Edward Beecher Fink, of Philadelphia, president of the Pennsylvania Woman's Press association, and Mrs. A. J. George, representing the National association, opposed to woman suffrage.
Each side was given one hour to present its arguments. <snip>
