He died at 1 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Logansport, he was the son of Ray and Mae Watson Hunter. He was married on Dec. 7, 1968, in Indianapolis, to Jean Kitchell, who survives.

A 1941 graduate of Logansport High School, Mr. Hunter served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, in Italy, North Africa and England.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 and had been a member and past commander of American Legion Post 60.

Bob retired from Kain's Motor Service after 32 years of employment. Later on, for a short time, he worked at Greensfelder Brothers Clothing Store.

A member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Bob was former president of the Logansport Evening Exchange Club and had been a member of the Tippecanotes Barbershop Singing Chorus in Lafayette.

He was a recipient of the Good Neighbor Award in 1990.

Bob enjoyed family, friends, flowers, sports, barbershop music, Class of '41 activities, and having reunions with his former Junior Legion Baseball team.

Bob's family includes his wife, Jean Hunter, Logansport; one son, Jere E. Hunter and his wife, Gunda, Itasca, Ill.; one stepson, Mac McNaught and his wife, Sarah, Carmel; one granddaughter, Nicole M. Hunter, Itasca, Ill.; one grandson, Justin J. Hunter, Itasca, Ill.; one stepgranddaughter, Mary N. McNaught, Carmel; one stepgrandson, John D. McNaught, Carmel; one brother, Paul Hunter and his wife, Ann, Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Leona Holt, Logansport, and Norma Smith and her husband, Skip, Haymarket, Va.; two nephews; and four nieces.

One stepson, Michael J. McNaught, and his wife, Melinda, preceded in death.

The Rev. Doug Mankell and the Rev. Lisa Mays will officiate at the service. Interment will be private.

Calling will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.

Robert married Jenimae Beecher, daughter of Lyman Edgar Beecher and Sylvia Della See.
