[Research note: since Buren Larson and Oliver Larson both married a daughter of George and Ann Harley, and both Buren and Oliver are buried in the same cemetery, and Susanna Harley who married Oliver Larson is living in Buren Larson's household in the 1860 census, therefore, by the account in this book, it suggests they are brothers even though Oliver is buried with surname Lawson, not Larson, in the cemetery. It is possible Lawson and Larson are not their original Norwegian surnames, but their Americanizations of their original homeland surname, which could explain how they ended up with slightly different spellings?.

Oliver Lawson, Civil War veteran and honorary member of the American Legion, died Sunday night at the home of his son, Edward Lawson, 917 West Erie avenue. He was 85 years old. Born in Norway, Mr. Lawson came to this country when a child. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he joined the Navy serving under Admiral Farragut in a number of engagements. He became a member of Post 400, Naval Veterans of the G. A. R. and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his four sons, Kendall, Edward, Frank and Raymond, all living in Philadelphia.


Oliver married Susanna Harley, daughter of George Harley Sr. and Ann Giberson. (Susanna Harley was born in 1842 in , Gloucester, NJ, USA,11 14 died in 1881 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 14 and was buried in Bellmawr: Hedding United Methodist Church Cemetery, Camden, NJ 14.)
