Phoebe Burgett was born on November 28, 1833 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, and died on February 12, 1900 in Milford, Iroquois County, Illinois. She married (1) John Laird on March 27, 1851 in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, son of Samuel J. Laird and Delilah Albin. He was born on July 14, 1827 in Ohio, and died on September 30, 1874 in Iroquois County, Illinois. See Laird history. She married (2) William M. Bicher on February 1, 1883 in Iroquois County, son of John Bicher and Sarah E. Sands. He was born circa 1828 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She married (3) Joseph Nelson Cupp on February 20, 1894 in Iroquois County, son of Joseph (or Jasper) Cupp and Elender Lepter. He was born on March 28, 1833 in Franklin County, Indiana, and died on April 23, 1901 in Iroquois County, Illinois. (See Laird history). Joseph Cupp married twice before his marriage to Phoebe. 4. Biography. John Bicher was born 8 Aug 1800 in Adamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the son of Peter Bicher (1765-1858) and Susanna Pennebacker. John was the grandson of 1751 immigrant Johann Engel Buecher whose descendants today use surnames Bicher, Beecher, Biecher, Beicher, and Beacher.

John remained in Adamstown but in the 1830's moved to Franklin County, Ohio, where two of his uncle John Beecher's sons had moved: William Beecher (1799-1879) and Benjamin Beecher (1801-1878) as well as their sister Barbara Beecher Neiswender (1791-1858). The Beecher's settled in Gahanna where today's Beecher Road is found.

John married Sarah Elizabeth Sands, her surname identified in a biography about their son William Beecher, and on their son Peter J. Beecher's death certificate as Sanda (handwriting unclear.)

Their first child J. Henry Bicher was born about 1822 in Adamstown and he married Sarah A. Weiser on 23 Aug 1858 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Henry witnessed the will of Charles Heyl, the uncle of Charles Heyl who married Henry's sister Elizabeth.

Daughter Elizabeth was born 10 Jul 1826 and baptized on 10 Apr 1827 in the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church near Adamstown. The sponsor for the baptism was Theresa Fitchtorn, who could be a relative. Elizabeth married Charles W. Heyl on 25 Jun 1844 in Columbus, Ohio where they are buried in Green Lawn Cemetery, her tombstone date matching her baptism birth record found in Adamstown.

Son William M. Beicher was born in 1818, married Mary E. Schoffstall on 4 Aug 1857 in Fairfield County, Ohio, and after her death married Phoebe Burgett on 1 Feb 1883 in Watseka, Illinois. He is buried in Milford, Illinois with a tombstone engraved "William Beicher".

Son Peter J. Beecher, a carpenter, was born 14 Oct 1831 "near Reading, Pennsylvania" per his Kansas death certificate and died 13 Jun 1924 in Arkansas City, Kansas. His wife, Elizabeth A. Ridenour (1825-1900), is part of the Ridenour family who lived as neighbors with John Bicher's relatives in Gahanna on today's Ridenour Road.

Daughter Mary was born about 1842 and son John 3 Feb 1843, both in Franklin County, Ohio. John married Martha Ellen Baltimore (1837-1930) and they are buried in Chili Cemetery in Miami County, Indiana, where John Bicher's uncles also died.

John died young at age 50, and is buried with tombstone engraved "John Bicher" at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Gahanna where some of his uncle John Beecher's relatives also lie.
