2. Obituary: News-Journal: obituary of Charles Glass Sr. on 5 Jul 1973 in Mansfield, Richland, OH, USA. ⁵ LUCAS - Charles A. Glass Sr., 73, of Ashland, RD 4, died yesterday morning at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland after a long illness. He was born in Paris, Ontario, Canada, and had lived in the Widowville area the past 46 years. He retired in 1965 from the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Co. where he had been employed 20 years. Recently he had been a night watchman for the Burns Detective Agency at the F. E. Myers & Bro. Co. in Ashland. He was a member of the Vermillion Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; two sons, Charles Jr., of Hayesville and William J. of Ashland; three daughters, Mrs. John (Mary Alice) Boals of Ashland, Mrs. James (Anna May) Beecher of Ashland RD 4, and Mrs. Joe (Beverly) Perdew of Houston. Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Wise, Mrs. Florence Newlon and Mrs. Mabel Gaston, all of Mansfield; four step-brothers, Fred Scott of Bellville, Bruce and Percy Scott, both of Mansfield and James Scott of Auburn, N. Y.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Vermillion Baptist Church with the Rev. William J. Absalom officiating. Burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery at Hayesville. Friends may call at the Byerly Funeral Home in Lucas Friday afternoon and evening and at the church for one hour prior to services.
