"Dan" Shaffer, Sr., age 59, of Fayetteville, PA passed away unexpectedly at the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Born August 14, 1952 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Beulah Bumbaugh Shaffer.

Dan has worked as a dump truck driver at Valley Quarries since 2003. He enjoyed carpentry and detailed woodworking; however his favorite past time was spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his "old buddy", Hank.

Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie Beecher Shaffer, whom he married on July 4, 1970; his children, Daniel B. Shaffer, Jr. (wife Stacy) of Concord, PA, Scott J. Shaffer (wife Crystal) of Fayetteville, PA, and Angie E. Beistline (husband Jason) of Harrisburg, PA; and four grandchildren, Cortney, Kelby, Alex, and Madaline. He is also survived by eight brothers, Donald and Roger Shaffer, both of Chambersburg, Max Dupont of Quincy, John Dupont of Waynesboro, John, David, and Richard Shaffer, all of Waynesboro, and Ralph Shaffer of Chambersburg; two sisters, Donna K. Hobbs and husband Frank of Marion and Leah Kipe of Chambersburg; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Emma Beecher of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Yeager and Marie Moats; and two brothers Kenny Shaffer and Joe Shaffer.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.

Daniel married Bonnie K. Beecher, daughter of Glenn Edward Beecher Sr. and Emma Elizabeth White, on 4 Jul 1970.¹ (Bonnie K. Beecher was born on 27 Jun 1954 in Carlisle, Cumberland, PA ^{2 4}.)
