PERU, Ind., February 1. -- Dwight Beecher, age twenty-six, died Saturday as the result of injuries he received Friday afternoon when he fell 130 feet with the top section of a concrete smokestack, on which he was at work at the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad shops here, where a $125,000 power plant is in course of construction. The top section of the stack, which was being finished, slipped and tumbled to the ground. Beecher was caught under the cement, and, besides having a fractured skull, his right arm was broken, his hips crushed and one foot was crushed badly. A widow and son survive.
