Conrad Linderman

LINDERMAN, one of the proprietors of the well known Antlers Cafe, in Shamokin, Pa., is of German origin, his ancestors first settling in Bucks county, Pa., upon coming to America. John Linderman, the great-grandfather of Fred C., was born in Bucks county, Pa., and removed to Berks county, near Douglassville, where he purchased a farm. In addition to farming he was a charcoal burner and also did weaving. He died upon his farm in Berks county. His children were: Conrad; William; Jacob; John; Martha, and Frederick. Frederick Linderman, grandfather of Fred C., was born in Berks county, near Douglassville, and also followed charcoal burning. He also learned the trade of ship carpenter, which he followed for some time. In 1861 he removed to Schuylkill county, Pa., and in 1868 came to Shamokin, where he was employed in and around the mines. Conrad married Martha Peters on 10 Apr 1771. (Martha Peters was born on 1 Jul 1756 in , Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA, died on 1 Mar 1821 in , Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA and was buried in North Coventry Township: Shenkel Cemetery, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA.) |
