Andreas Geist Jr. ¹

• Census, 1850, Upper Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA. ³ He is listed as Andrew Geist (age 49) living on a farm with his wife, Magdalena (47); David (18); Andrew (11); Hannah (8); and John (7).

• Occupation: farmer and his real estate was valued at $3000, 1850. ³

• Census, 1860, Upper Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA. ⁴ He is listed as Andrew Geist (age 59) living with his wife, Madalena (57); Andrew (20); John I. (17); Daniel Geist (39, farmhand) and Cecilia Geist (19).

• Census, 1870. ⁵ He is listed as Andrew Geist (age 69, retired farmer) living on the farm owned by his son, Andrew (age 31).

• Book: Genealogical & Biographical Annals of Northumberland County by J.L. Floyd, 1911. ⁶ Andrew Geist, grandfather of Wilson H. Geist of Upper Mahanoy Township, was born in Upper Mahanoy Jan. 5, 1801, son of Andrew Geist. He lived on the farm there now owned by his son Andrew, a tract of 112 acres which formerly belonged to one Andrew Snyder, and died there Feb. 12, 1878, his son Andrew succeeding him as owner of the property. Earlier he had owned and occupied a farm near by. He and his wife Mary Magdalena (Hepler), born May 4, 1803, died April 5, 1869, are buried at the Himmel Church, where several generations of Geists have been interred. He held several offices as an active member of the Reformed congregation of that church. His children were as follows: Elias located in Jefferson County, Pa.; Sarah married Daniel Seiler; Emanuel, born in 1828, died in 1844; Daniel H. is mentioned below; Lydia, born in 1834, died in 1836; Andrew is mentioned below; John, now (1910) sixty-five years old, has been an invalid all his life, having never been able to walk, and he now lives with Mr. and Mrs. Felix D. Mattern (the latter being his niece), who care for him tenderly, he being entirely helpless (he has a life interest in the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Mattern); Mary is deceased.

Andreas married Maria Magdalena Hepler, daughter of Stoffel Hepler and Catherina. (Maria Magdalena Hepler was born on 14 May 1803 in Eldred Township: Pitman, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA, died on 5 Apr 1869 and was buried in Rebuck: Himmel's Church, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.)
