Eberlys celebrate 50th anniversary

James G. and Elsie S. Bicher Eberly of Reinholds celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 23, at a drop-in party hosted by children and grandchildren. Friends and relatives contributed pages for a scrapbook.
Last year, the children planted hundreds of daffodil bulbs along their parents stream so they would bloom this spring.
The couple was married Sept. 23, 1951, at Weaverland Mennonite Church in New Holland by Bishop Joseph Weaver. James is a retired department manager for New Holland Concrete, where he worked for 41 years. He works part time for Four Seasons Produce.
Elsie is a retired receptionist for Lancaster Health Associates in Leola. She also worked at Provident Bookstore, Ephrata Public Library, and Gehmans Mennonite School.
James enjoys gardening, hunting and archery. He has twice hiked the Knife Edge Trail on Mt. Katahdin, Maine. He also repairs the cars of family and friends.
Elsie has made quilts for each of her children, embroidered tablecloths for each grandchild, and is currently working on baby afghans. She also enjoys reading and is a leader at Hampden Mennonite Church, Reading, where they are members.
Their children are Kenneth B. Eberly, husband of Betty Lou Horning, Reading; Marian Eberly, South Bound Brook, N.J.; James Lamar Eberly, husband of Marjorie Bomberger, Kingsley; Paul Marvin Eberly, husband of Lori Craley, Reinholds; Linda Jane, wife of Charles Lauver, East Earl. They have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

3. Obituary: Lancaster Online: obituary of James G. Eberly on 12 Jul 2019 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 7 James G. Eberly, 89, a resident of the Zerbe Retirement Community, passed away at the home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

He was married 67 years to Elsie S. Bicher Eberly. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Good Eberly.

James retired from New Holland Concrete where he had been employed for 45 years. He was a member of the Conestoga Mennonite Church and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Kenneth husband of Betty Eberly of Reading, James Lamar husband of Bethene Eberly of Kingsley, and Paul Marvin husband of Lori Eberly of Reinholds; two daughters, Marian Eberly of Media, and Linda Jane wife of Charles Lauver of East Earl; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Titus Eberly of Little Marsh, and Joseph, Jr. husband of Jean Eberly of Myerstown; and two sisters, Anna Mary Oberholtzer, and Alice Horst both of Ephrata. He was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel and Paul Eberly and by sisters, Susanna Bicher and Lena Sauder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 15, at 11:00 A.M. at the Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown, PA with the Rev. Robert L. Petersheim officiating. Friends may call at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill, PA on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Bowmansville Mennonite Cemetery.
