1. He was employed. Dr. Charles A. Bucher of Batavia was a native of Steuben County, New York arriving in Aurora in 1850. In 1855 he located at Batavia and subsequently studied medicine under Drs. Thompson and Mead. He was graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, made an honorable record in the army as acting assistant surgeon of the 124th and first assistant surgeon of the 72nd Infantry. He located in Batavia in 1865 and was elected Kane County coroner in 1868.

3. He was educated at Rush Medical College in 1864 in Chicago, Cook, IL.

4. He served in the military in 1864. Co. B 124th Illinois Infantry Asst' Surgeon 72nd Illinois. Enlisted Springfield Illinois, 3 yrs. as Army Surgeon.

5. Census in 1870 in Batavia, Kane, IL. 6 Charles Bucher [indexed as Beecher], physician, 40, was living with wife Minerva, 33; Eva, 9; and Charles, 2. Charles and Minerva were born in New York, the children in Illinois.

6. He has conflicting death information of 28 Jun 1907 and Fitzgerald, Ben Hill, GA. 4

Obituary: Fitzgerald Enterprise on 2 Jul 1907 in Fitzgerald, Ben Hill, GA. 4 The funeral of Dr. Charles Ambler Bucher, which took place on Sunday, called out the largest crowd ever in attendance in Fitzgerald. Rev. Jessee Miller had charge of the religious services at the home of the deceased, on Magnolia street. Co. M. and Martin's Concert Band, the Masonic Fraternity and the G. A. R. joined in the large cortege to the cemetery where the G. A. R. and Masons performed their funeral rites.

The deceased was born Nov. 11, 1829 in Caton, Stuben county N. Y. and died at 6:30 p. m. June 28, 1907. He was survived by four brothers, Samuel, in Fitzgerald, James and George in Pennsylvania and John in New York. His one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Brown, resides on South Grant street. Dr. Bucher had been a Mason ever since he was 21 years of age and was a charter member of the Eastern Star in this city. He enlisted in the Federal army at Springfield, Ills., serving three years as Army surgeon. His wife and one son, Edward, are buried at Evergreen cemetery, his other four children are buried in Illinois.
