  Noted events in her life were:

1. She appeared on the census in 1850 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA. 18 A Sarah George (age 24) is listed in a household headed by Jacob George (age 68, farmer) that also includes wife Lydia (51), Reuben (30), Daniel (17), Elizabeth (20), Elmira (15), Femina? (10 or 12?), and Lydia (10). Everyone's birthplace is listed as Pennsylvania.
This perhaps explains why we cannot find her husband Solomon listed in the 1850 Census. Although the couple married in February 1850, she may have been living at home with her parents, perhaps because Solomon had traveled elsewhere around August 6, 1850, the day the census was recorded?

2. She appeared on the census in 1860 in Upper Macungie Twp., Lehigh, PA. 19 The 1860 census recorded Solomon Diehl, stone mason, 33, living with wife Sarah, 33; Milton, 9; William, 8; Isabella, 5; Thomson, 4; Isadore, 2; and Emma, 2 months. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Fogelsville. His real estate was valued at $700 and personal possessions $400.

3. She appeared on the census in 1870 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA. 20 The 1870 Census recorded Solomon Diehl, age 44, occupation stone mason, living with his wife, Sarah Ann, 44, and Emma, 9; Alexander, 7; Lovina, 5; Clinton, 3; Henry, 1: and Daniel, 1. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Solomon's real estate was valued at $1,200 and personal estate $300. The post office was Slatington.

4. She appeared on the census in 1880 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA. 21 The 1880 census recorded Solomon Diehl, stone mason, 52, living with wife Sarah, 53; Daniel, 11; and Charles, 9. Next door is Henry Diehl, 11, working as a servant in the home of farmer George Klotz, 31, and his wife Mary, 32. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

5. Newspaper: Allentown Leader: Diehl Family Reunion, 27 Sep 1897, Allentown, Lehigh, PA. 22 The desendants of Solomon Diehl, of Lowhill, had a reunion yesterday at the house of Isadore Diehl, 753 Lawrence Street. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Diehl and daughter, Marguerite, of Mountainville, Lycoming County; Charles Diehl, of Quakertown; Squire E. H. Knerr and family, of Lowhill; Oliver Knedler and Mrs. Lovina Hunsberger, of Alburtis; Mrs. Solomon Diehl, Mrs. and Mrs. Milton Diehl and daughter Carrie, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Diehl and daughter Daisy, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Diehl and daughter Flossie, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Diehl and daughte rLillian, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Diehl and Isadore Diehl and family, Daisy S. Knerr, Millie M. Knerr, Lillie M. Peters and Mr. Sweney, of Allentown; Mr. and Mrs. Baldas Lukens and daughter Bessie and Mr. Hower, of South Bethlehem.

6. She appeared on the census in 1900 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA. 13 The census listed Sarah Diehl (73, born November 1826) who had 13 children and 11 were still living. She is living with her daughter, Isabella, and her husband E. Henry Knerr.

No services were held at the house on account of the sickness of his wife and child. There were two clergymen, Rev. Mr. Dunlap and a Methodist minister. The following attended the funeral: Mrs. Sarah Diehl, the mother; Milton J. Diehl, wife and daughter, William B. Diehl and wife and son Albert, Alexander Diehl, Thompson Diehl, Isadore Diehl, Daniel Diehl, Clinton G. Diehl, Mrs. E. H. Knerr of Allentown, Mrs. J. Knedler of Alburtis, and Charles F. Diehl of Quakertown.

8. Newspaper: Allentown Leader: Misses Knerr Gave A Party, 24 Jan 1905, Allentown, Lehigh, PA. 24 The MIsses Knerr of 218 North Twelfth Street entertained a large party of friends. The evening was pleasantly spent in playing games of various kinds. Piano solos were rendered by Miss Lichtenwainer and Mr. Bernhard. Refreshments were served. Those present were Emma Knerr, Robt. Grim, Savilla Wagner, Blaine Knerr, Edna Rex, John Knerr, Lizzie Knerr, Frederick Schmoyer, Stella Knerr, John Schubert, Katie Knerr, Joseph Geisinger, Carrie Lichtenwainer, Harold Bernhard, Annie Knerr and Mr. and Mrs. Diehl, Mr. and Mrs. Knerr, Miss Carrie Knerr and Mrs. Solomon Diehl.

Services in Morgenland Church. Interment in cemetery adjoining.

Many relatives and friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Sarah A. Diehl, widow of Solomon Diehl, which took place to-day from the residence of her son-in-law, E. Henry Knerr, No. 218 North Twelfth Street. Short services were held at the house, after which the cortege proceeeded to Morgenland Church, where regular services and burial took place. Rev. E. O. Leopold officiated.


Sarah married Solomon Diehl Jr., son of Solomon Diehl Sr. and Anna Elisabeth Siegfried, on 19 Feb 1850 in , Lehigh, PA. (Solomon Diehl Jr. was born on 4 Jul 1827 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA,4 14 25 26 27 28 died on 27 Aug 1891 in Lowhill Twp., Lehigh, PA 14 27 28 and was buried on 31 Aug 1891 in Leather Corner Post: Morgenland Church Cemetery, Lehigh, PA 14 27 28.)
