• Census, 1850, Lowhill Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, USA. 3 He is listed as Benjamin Diehl, age 62, farmer. He is living with his second wife, Judith, age 50.

The post office listed is Slatington. The census was recorded on August 4, 1870.

• Book: Anniversary History of Lehigh County, Vol. II, 1914. 1 Benjamin Diehl, son of Solomon Diehl, lived in Lowhill Township, where he had a farm which he conducted. He was for many years a "Post Rider," Once every week he made the circuit from Allentown, covering 7 townships. It required two and half days to make the circuit. The postage at this time was five cents. The "Post Rider" was very popular man and known by everyone on the route. He is buried at Morgenland Church, where he was a member of the Reformed Congregation. He was married to Catharine Heilman, with whom he had the following children: Alvin, Thomas, Reuben, Benjamin, Catharine, (Mrs. Levi Smith), Phaon F. and Tilghman. Mr. Diehl was married the second time to Judith, a daughter of John Diehl. The children of the second marriage were the following: Lewis, Angeline, Chester, Maria, Willoughby, Josiah, Richard, Amanda and Granville.
