bullet  Christening Notes:

This baptism appears in the Personal Register of Reverend Traugott F. Illing. In the original church record book, the sponsor is written as Elisabeth Beckein, the "in" indicating the female German verison of a surname. [It might be Becker or Beck, or Becher or Bech, depending on handwriting interpretation.] Typically, Elizabeth would be either the name of either John Bucher's mother, or Mary Ann Albrecht's mother, and the child was named in their honor. The translation as provided by author F. Edward Wright in his Church Records of the 18th Century volume: "Elizabeth, of John Bucher and wife Maria, b. 24 May 1782; bapt. date not given. Sponsor. Elizabeth Becker."

bullet  Noted events in her life were:

• Church, 1811, Mount Zion: Zoar Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA. 6 The baptism of her son, Samuel, was sponsored by Jacob Bicher. Unsure which Jacob this was, but since grandparents often appeared as sponsors, it's possible Elizabeth's grandfather was Jacob. If so, he is likely this one:

• Book: Kentucky Pioneer and Court Records, 1929. 5 "Betsy Beecher married Mr. Sagner, of near Columbus, Ohio. She died, aged 45, and had 13 of her own children at her funeral."

This info was compiled by Dr. A. C. Beecher in the late 1800's from verbal family history and published in a 1929 book by another Beecher descendant, Mrs. McAdams. Further research is needed to confirm that Elizabeth and George Segner were near Columbus, Ohio, as stated but this is quite possible since some of her brothers move there in the early 1800's. See her father for more from this book.
