4. Obituary: Birmingham News: obituary of John S. Beeker Sr. on 1 Jun 2004 in Birmingham, Jefferson, AL. ⁵ BEEKER, JOHN S., SR., age 80 of Trussville, AL, passed away on May 30, 2004. Retired as a control operator with Alabama Power Co. after 44 years of service. Member of Clay First Baptist Church. Veteran of World War II where he was attached to the Eighth Air Force and served in England.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel W. Beeker, children, Astarsia Elliott (Robert), Carolyn Jessen (Jimmy), Deborah Knox (Ron), John S. Beeker, Jr. (Charlotte), grandchildren, Amy McDougal (Tommy), Eric Stinson (Carlyn), Chris Knox (Sally), Tim Knox (Tracy), great granddaughter, Emma Stinson, sisters, Ina Merle Brannon and Minnie Evelyn Elliott (Bill), brother, Chris Reed Beeker (Nell).

Services will be Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 12 noon at Jefferson Memorial Chapel with burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Sanders and Rev. Rick Hinkle officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
