WANATAH - Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beecher, Rt. 1, proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Tereasa (Terry) to Byron Sommers of LaCrosse. He is the son of Mrs. Lucille Hundt and Harold Sommers, both of LaCrosse.
The bride-elect, a 1971 graduate of LaCross High School, is employed with Azars, Valparaiso. Her fiance, a 1967 graduate of the same school, is employed with the Grand Trunk Railroad, also in Valparaiso.
A February wedding is planned.

Two baskets of white gladioli and aqua carnations marked the choir rail; boquets of white stalk and carnations graced the altar and the pews were marked by candles wreathed with white an aqua pom pom carnations. Mrs. John Coulter was organist who offered traditional wedding selections.
Given in marriage by her father, she chose a floor length gown of sata peau over peau de dole, styled with fitted bodice of Venise lace, high neck and Juliet sleeves. The flowing skirt cascaded into a detachable chapel length train. A bouquet of white carnations completed her garb.
Mrs. Ronald Pych, LaCrosse, was matron of honor in an aqua gown of polyanza styled with empire waist and a weskit effect formed by Venise lace, tiny velvet bows, portrait collar and lace-cuffed Bishop sleeves. A velvet bow and a bouqet complete her ensemble.
Identically attired were Mrs. Dennis Small and Miss Shelly Baske, LaCrosse who served as bridesmaids. Kari Ross was flower girl and Donny Soner, bride's nephew was ring bearer.
Ronald Pych was best man. Groomsmen were David Wright andDick Sommers, brother of the groom. David Swanson and John Lippell were ushers.
The reception followed at the Kouts Legion Hall. Connie Pick, LaCrosse, registered guests; Juliette LeLuis, Valparaiso served the cake and Mrs. Ed Welsh, LaPorte, presided at the coffee and punch table. Bill Rudd's band furnished dance music. The couple is now at home at 701 North Franklin, Valparaiso.

Byron C. "Grumpy" Sommers, 65 a lifetime resident of LaCrosse, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at his home with his loving family and friends by his side. He was born July 9, 1949 in Valparaiso, son of the late Harold and Lucille (Werner) Sommers. Byron graduated from LaCrosse High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines. Grumpy retired from the Valparaiso Street Department, where he serviced all of the city vehicles and equipment. His passion was drag racing, not only as a fan but driving as well. On June 21, 2003 in Wanatah, Byron married Sue Eaton who survives along with his children, Daniele (Clint) Yocum and Bryce Pickering, both of Portage; step children, Chris (Tanya) Gibson and Chad Gibson, both of North Judson; brother, Richard Sommers of LaCrosse; four grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Kosanke Funeral Home 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts with entombment to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the VNA Hospice 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso 46383.
