Raphael J. DiCello of 1116 W. Norwegian St., a Pottsville Area High School teacher and coach died at the United States Public Health Service Hospital, Baltimore, Md., Tuesday. about 4:30 p.m. He was ill about five weeks. DiCello, 39, was son of Mrs. Mamie Tucci and the late Charles R. DiCello. He was married 14 years ago to the former JoMarie Messina. Surviving are his widow, his mother, children David Charles, Raphael, Michelle, Kevin James, at home; grandmother, Mrs. Mary Roda of Pottsville; brothers, Carmen, registered pharmacist, Pottsville; Russell, Philadelphia and Tony, a Pottsville City Councilman; sister, Angela, wife of Thomas Bolton, Pottsville. He was freshman football coach at Pottsville Area High School and an assistant track coach. He was a member of the Pottsville Human Relations Commission, Pottsville Midget Football Association, West End Hose Company, a commissioner of the Teener League, a member of the Sons of Italy Home Association. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Fort Union Military Academy, Va.; Muhlenberg College, Allentown. He did graduate work at the University of Vermont and Plattsburg State University. He was taking courses at Kutztown State College, working toward his master's degree. DiCello taught at Chazy High School, N. Y., for seven years and was a member of the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association and president of the Pottsville Area School District Teachers' Association. Lord Funeral Home is in charge.
