Obituary: Obituary of Etta Mae Payne Parsons on 31 Dec 2005 in Johnson City, Washington, TN. ^{1 2} Etta Mae Payne Parsons, age 75, of 1406 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2005. She passed away after a brief illness at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN. Etta Mae was born on January 3, 1930 in Johnson County, TN to the late William Isaac and Cora Dyson Payne. She was one of sixteen children, Etta moved to Pennsylvania in 1945 with her parents. She met her husband Roderick Parsons. They were married in Elkton, MD on Feb. 15, 1947. They settled in New London, Pa. Rod and Etta owned and operated the Pennsylvania House Restaurant in Kennett Square. In the summer of 1976, they followed their dream and returned to their roots in Mountain City, TN. They owned and operated "Rod's Deli" located in Mountain City. After closing the Deli, Etta went to work at the Mountain City Care Center as a Dietary Cook until her retirement in April 1999. She was a member of the Mountain City Presbyterian Church, an avid gardener, and before her ill health looked forward to going to the Senior Center to be with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roderick on March 2, 1992 and Brothers, Walter (Bud) Payne, Samuel Payne and Rod Payne. Sisters; Dorothy Payne White, Bertha Payne Walker and Gertrude Payne Ellis, Grandchildren, Jennifer McPherson, Anthony McPherson and Kaden Buckheit.

Daniel Parsons and wife Kimberly of Pinehurst, NC

Three Daughters: Jane Parsons Warren and Husband Jeff of Taylorsville, NC
Norma Parsons McPherson and Husband John of Seaford, DE.
Mary Ann Parsons McDermott and husband Don of Parksburg, PA

Five sisters: Magdalene Payne Anthony and husband Ed of North East, MD
Geraldine Payne Swift and Mary Payne Marden both of Elkton, MD
Barbara Payne Beacher of Newark, DE.
Lacie Payne Cress of Mountain City
Essie Payne Goode and Myrtle Payne Rodriquez both of Beckley, WV.

Two brothers: William (Billy) Payne of Nottingham, PA
Ralph Payne of Beckley, WV

Nineteen Grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 from the Mountain City Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Warren Stewart to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Sherry Tester.
Burial will follow in the Reece Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Grandsons, Glenn Parson, Donald Cornette, Roderick Cornette, John McPherson Jr. Joseph McDermott, Nathaniel McDermott and Bradley Parsons,

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p. m. until 8:30 p. m, Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Henson Funeral Home Chapel. All other times the family will receive friends at the Home, 1406 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City at any time.
