On her tombstone, her married name is Bucherin and her maiden name is given as Zurien. Since it was customary for the Germans to attach the suffix of "in" or "en" to surnames to indicate the feminine, her maiden name would be Zuri. 1
Her tombstone reads:
• Sponsor, 5 Aug 1750, New Hanover Township: Falkner Swamp Reformed Church, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA. 4 Dietrich and Maria Sophia Bucher sponsored the baptism of Maria Sophia Schneider born 11 Jul 1750. Maria married Johan Dietrich Bucher. (Johan Dietrich Bucher was born on 1 Nov 1709 in Neunkirch, Schaffhausen, , Switzerland,2 3 died on 15 May 1769 in New Hanover Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA 2 3 and was buried in New Hanover Township: Falkner Swamp Reformed Church, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA 1 2.) |
