On her tombstone, her married name is Bucherin and her maiden name is given as Zurien. Since it was customary for the Germans to attach the suffix of "in" or "en" to surnames to indicate the feminine, her maiden name would be Zuri. 1

Hier ruhet dem Leibe nach eine Chriatlice Schwester diester Kirche, nahmens Maria Sophia Bucherin, eine gebohrene Zurien. Ist gebohren 26 Februar, 1702, und starb 25 August, 1770.

Translation:
Here rests in the manner of the body a Christian sister of this church named Maria Sophia Bucherin, born Zurien. Was born 26 February 1702, and died 25 August 1770.
