bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Census, 1850, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. 2 Henry Redcay, butcher, 41, is living with wife Lidia [nee Bicher], 39; Sarah, 8; Catharine, 6; Louisa, 3; and Elizabeth, 1. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Henry's real estate is worth $800. A few households later is found William Bicher, 28, with his family and mother, Catharine, 60, widow; this suggests William is Lydia's brother and Catharine her mother.

• Census, 1860, Adamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. 3 Henry Redcay, master butcher, 47, is living with wife Lydia [nee Bicher], 42; Sarah, 17; Catherine, 15; Louisa, 13; Elizabeth, 11; Lydia, 8; Anna, 6; and Mary, 4. Eveyrone was born in Pennsylvania. Henry's real estate is worth $700 and possessions $300. A few lines above on the same census page is Henry Bicher, age 30, presumed to be a relative of Lydia's, if not a brother then a cousin.

Elias Redcay, son of Elias, was born Dec. 28, 1782, in Robeson township, Berks county, and died at Adamstown, Jan. 28, 1867. He assisted his father with the farm work until his marriage. This hotel was operated by Mr. Redcay until 1846, in which year he sold out and purchased a tract of land in the lower end of the town, where he erected a hotel which he owned until the time of his death.
