Abraham Gibbel, called to the ministry in 1822, was an exceptionally able preacher, but unsteady in conduct. He especially made inroads into the Mennonite families of the community, viz: the Brubachers, Horsts, Heiseys, Smiths, and others. The wife of Dr. Benedict Bucher, of Rexmont, became a member.

At the home of Jacob Bucher, son of Dr. Benedict, at Isaac Brubaker's, and at Abraham Geib's meetings were held every twelve weeks, making meetings in the neighborhood every four weeks. Occasional meetings and love-feasts were held at other homes. This work in the neighborhood of Rexmont led to the building of the Cornwall meeting-house in 1871, a frame structure 40 ft. X 60 ft. In 1880, George Bucher started in this house the first Brethren Sunday School in Lebanon County.
