David F. Keiper, 88, a lifelong resident of Hellertown, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Hospice House of the V.N.A. of St. Lukes, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of the late Frances J. (Jacobs) Keiper, who died on January 16, 2002. Born in Hellertown on October 20, 1918, he was the son of the late Frederick O. and Mary (Bachman) Keiper. David worked as a metallurgical engineer for Bethlehem Steel Corp., as Superintendent of the Electric Furnace, for 41 years, retiring in 1982. He was a 1940 graduate of Lehigh University with a bachelors degree in metallurgical engineering. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown. He was a member of the board of directors of Union Cemetery of Hellertown, had been a longtime board member of the Keystone Savings Association, was a member of Dewey Fire Company, Hellertown, and was a past president of various pigeon racing clubs. Survivors: Sons, Jeffrey D. of Bethlehem, Gary F. and his wife Dori A. of Whitehall; daughter, Gwendolyn K. Singer of Hellertown; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lauren, Jonathan, David, Daniel; great-granddaughter, Avelyn B. Services: A public visitation period will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The service and interment will be private Sunday, for the family only. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at: www.heintzelmanfh.com.
