Miss Donna Mae Beecher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Beecher, Walnut Bottom, became the bride of Jack E. Nye, son of Mrs. Ethel M. Nye, RD3, Shippensburg, on Apr. 30, 1961, in the Centerville Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Laverne Stough performed the double-ring ceremony. Miss Peggy Skelly, RD4, was organist. George Houck, Newville, sang.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white satin, with a bodice of Chantilly lace. The gown featured a bateau neckline, long sleeves tapering to points over the hands, and a chapel train. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid and lily-of-the-valley steamers. Mrs. William Ashburn, RD4, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Glenda Markle, RD5, and Miss Darla Wyrick, RD1 Shippensburg, a cousin of the bride, were bridesmaids.
The matron of honor wore a light blue street-length with short sleeves and a bateau neckline. She wore a small circle hat with a face veil to match her gown and carried a basket of white daisy pompons with light blue ribbons.
Miss Markle and Miss Wyrick wore similar dresses in yellow and lavender with matching hats and veils, and carried baskets of white daisy pompons with matching ribbon. The bride's mother wore a navy-blue dress and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue dress and navy accessories. Both wore corsages of white cymbidium orchids.
Andrew Fry, Shippensburg, was best man. Richard Weaver, RD1, Shippensburg, and Larry Nye, bridegroom, were ushers. A reception was held in the church parish house.
The bride, a graduate of Big Spring High School, Class of 1960, is employed in the office of lhe Carlisle Food Market. The bridegroom, a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg High School, is employed by Towne Cleaners, Shippensburg.

She was born September 17, 1942 in Centerville, PA. Donna was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Jeannette N. Wyrick Beecher.

Donna started her career at Letterkenny Army Depot where she spent 39 years and became a Management Analyst. She retired at the age of 58 in 2000.

Donna was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church where she served as Church Secretary and on the Board of Directors. She was a 1960 graduate of the Big Spring High School.

Her family was the joy of her life. Donna's hobbies included reading, biking, walking, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, cooking, and her biggest pastime golfing. Donna was an avid golfer for 25 years. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and beautiful flowers.

Donna is survived by her husband of 56 ½ years, Jack E. Nye; her son, Jack E. "Jay" Nye of Baltimore; her daughter, Tracy (John) Sult of Baltimore; her granddaughter, Kelsey Roman of Chambersburg; two sisters, Joann Oboczky of Reading, and Sally (Rand) Kann of Newville; her brother, David Beecher of Shippensburg; her sister-in-law, Roberta Beecher of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Beecher.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rick Fischl officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home.
