With them: Arthur Jr., coal engineer in coal mines, 21, who married at age 19; Dorothy, operator in telephone co., daughter-in-law, 24, who married Arthur Jr. at age 22; Evelyn, waitress, daughter, 19; Dorothy, 16; Paul, 11; and Jean, 5. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania, except Dorothy's parents were from Wales. They are living at 208 Ohio Avenue.

2. Census in 1940 in West Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 11 In the 1940 Census in West Mahanoy Township was recorded Arthur Beacher, age 56, retired, living with wife Lotte, 49; son Paul, 20, clerk in lumber company; daughter Jean, 15; plus son Arthur Beacher, 31, laborer in coal mine, and his wife Dot, 33, and their daughter Joan, 6. Also in the home is Arthur Sr's daughter Joan Balliet and her husband, John Balliet, 33, clerk in lumber company, and their child John Jr., 7. Everyone was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, except Lottie Beacher in Roaring Creek, Pennsylvania; John Jr. Balliet and Joan Beacher in Shenandoah Heights; and John Balliet Sr. In 1935 everyone lived in Shenandoah Heights.

Newspaper: Republican and Herald: Beacher-Gibbons, 9 Jul 1947, Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 12 A pretty wedding was solemnized in the Bethany Evangelical Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock when Miss Jean Beacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Beacher, of Ohio avenue, Shenandoah Heights, became the bride of Frederick Gibbons, son of Raymond Gibbons, of William Penn. Rev. William Helt performed the double ring ceremony, The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a gown of white marquisette trimmed in point lace ending in a long train with a veil of fingertip lace and a tier-crown of seed pearls. Her only jewelry was a double strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, with earrings to match. She carried a bouquet of white roses centering an orchid. Miss Dorothy Beacher, of Philadelphia, a sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Mary Shoup, of William Penn, a close friend of the bride, and Miss Joan Beacher, of Frackville. a niece. The maid of honor wore a yellow taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Miss Shoup wore gown of blue taffeta and Miss Beacher wore a gown of pink taffeta. Both carried yellow roses. Their headdresses were veils caught with flowers to match their gowns. John Pitcavage,of Wyndmoor, a brother-in-law of the bridegroom, served as best man, while Nelson Walters and Albert Jones, of William Penn were the ushers. They wore tuxedoes with a boutonniere of white carnations. Paul Beacher, brother of the bride, sang the "Lord's Prayer" and "I Love You Truly" before the ceremony and "O Promise Me" and "Because" during the ceremony. After the ceremony a reception dinner was tendered at the home of the bride's parents, after which the happy couple left on a honeymoon trip to Philadelphia and Atlantic City.

Census in 1950 in Shenandoah Heights, Schuylkill County, PA. 13 The 1950 census recorded at 208 Ohio Avenue: Arthur Beacher, laborer n lumber company, 66, living with wife Lottie, 59; son-in-law John Balliet, office clerk in lumber company, 44 and his wife Evelyn, 40; and their son John Balliet, 17; and son-in-law Fred Gibbons, colliery laborer in coal industry, 26, and his wife Jean, sews sleves in dress factory, 25. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

10. Obituary: Hazleton Standard-Speaker on 11 Apr 2000 in Hazleton, Luzerne, PA. 16 Jean Gibbons, 75, of 193 Pennsylvania Ave., Shenandoah Heights, died Monday at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center. Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lottie Beacher. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Shenandoah, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Before retiring, she was employed as a garment worker. She was the last member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Fred Gibbons, in 1994. Surviving are a son, Fred Gibbons Jr., Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Bette Jean Rizzardi, Shenandoah Heights, and two grandsons. The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., Shenandoah. The Rev. David Seymour will conduct the service. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
