2. Obituary: Reading Times: obituary of Joseph M. Matz on 13 Apr 1921 in Reading, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA. ⁵ MATZ. Following an illness from dropsy, Joseph M. Matz, 65 years old, died at 1.25 Tuesday morning at his home, 820 Franklin street. He was a carpenter by trade and for the past 10 years had been employed at the Penn foundry at Hill Crest. Mr. Matz was born in Shillington and was the son of the late Daniel and Christina (Wolfinger) Matz, of that place. The Reformed church, of Gouglersville, numbered him amongst its members.
Besides his widow (nee Zimmerman) he is survived by two daughters and one son: Tillie, wife of John J. Beechert; Margaret, wife of Omer G. Brown, of Kane, and William, of Reading. There are also five grandchildren and a sister, Elizabeth, of Brecknock township.
